Position Description

Our client is seeking two (2) intermediate Quality Assurance Automation Testers for their Edmonton operations.  These testers will be required to work independently and within a team environment, interacting with a variety of testing resources and the Quality Assurance Team Lead and/or Manager within the organization.


What You’ll Bring

Quality Assurance Documentation

  • As an Automation Test Analyst, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality test coverage following defined standards. In this role, you will work within a team environment with other Testers to understand and participate in business requirements definition, technical designs, development, testing, and implementation. You will participate in project activities to meet team, department, and corporate objectives. 

Test Execution

  • Able to execute test cases either manually or automated.
  • Use strong analytical skills to correctly confirm test results.
  • Document results effectively in the appropriate tool or document.
  • Retest test cases until the problem is resolved when necessary.
  • Run existing queries or create new ones as required.
  • Participate in testing before every release.
  • Setup and run batch jobs as required (daily, monthly, year-end processes, special requests, etc.).
  • Document clear test results following QA standards, ensuring the senior QAand QA manager are informed of test results.
  • Perform reverse engineering to validate the traceability matrix which the senior QA has prepared.

Defect Tracking

  • Understand technical and functional processes.
  • Create and manage difficult defects for assigned tasks.
  • Analyze requirements for the member and provide defect tracking reports, suitable for use by other members.
  • Speak to their defects to the Quality Assurance Manager providing suggestions on appropriate action when the defect is constantly repeated.
  • Document test results in such a manner that the test can be reproduced by the developer for quicker resolution.
  • Meet with technical and business analysts to discuss the problems/defects found during the testing execution.
  • Update the test execution summary with the list of defects that are deferred in the current release, with a buy-in from the business.

Communication and Team Effectiveness

  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Active listener with strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical staff and with members of cross-functional teams.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Control scope of own work effectively (prioritize, identify potential issues with estimates or deadlines early), recognizes when assistance is required and will actively seek help.
  • Communicate in a timely manner, escalate own issues and potential team issues appropriately to Team Lead / Manager Quality Assurance.
  • Prepare accurate written business correspondence that is coherent, grammatically correct, effective, professional and engaging at a high level.
  • Effective team member and an active participant and contributor in group discussions.
  • Contribute to a culture of team collaboration and continuous improvement.

Mandatories (must have to qualify)

Quality Assurance Documentation

  • 3 years of experience developing automated tests.
  • Experience with testing tools such as Selenium C# or Java, JMeter or equivalents.
  • 2 years of testing online banking services (automated or manual).
  • Proficiency with Automated Test Case Preparation & Execution.
  • Thorough Knowledge of the Software Test Life Cycle.
  • Strong communication skills with an advanced level of English.
  • 2+ years C# experience is an asset
  • Develops Automation framework and infrastructure, including documentation and strategy.
  • Familiarity with coding languages and coding standards.
  • Strong working experience with business requirements.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Factory Method Design Pattern, and Multithreaded development experience.
  • NUnit and NuGet packages experience.

Education and Training

  • Degree or post–secondary education in Computer Science or equivalent experience is strongly preferred, but combination of experience and education is also considered.
  • Financial sector experience (preferably in banking) is considered an asset.
  • ISTQB certification considered a definite asset.
