Position Description

Our Edmonton-headquartered client is seeking a Senior Data Governance Analyst for a 6-month contract with the possibility of extension! As an experienced Data Governance professional and SME with leadership capabilities, you will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of data management capabilities & data governance artifacts as per the roadmaps, leading data governance operations and coordinating with stakeholders to mature the organization’s data and information assets.  

Our client currently has a hybrid work environment and for the most part, you can work remotely, but must have willingness to work onsite as per the client’s request with will be aligned to Alberta’s COVID-19 strategy and planned approach.  You must have a conducive remote work environment and necessary equipment to perform your work activities.


What You’ll Bring

Delivery

  • Apply concepts and best practices coupled with knowledge of the organization’s needs to identify and
    evaluate approaches that support data governance and data management improvements.
  • Lead the procurement and implementation of Data Governance related tools and technologies.
  • Develop; document; and evolve frameworks, standards, processes, guidelines and user guides
    for data governance operations and tools.
  • Review all data governance artefacts and provide initial peer review and guidance to the team
    members for further improvement if necessary.
  • Engage with change management and communications teams to introduce new data governance
    capabilities or changes/updates thereafter.
  • Lead the identification and onboarding of data management roles like Stewards, Owners, etc.
    across the organization.
  • Develop content for data governance training and roadshows.
  • Develop & maintain inventory of the enterprise data assets.
  • Identify, evaluate and contribute to agreements with internal and external partners.
  • Lead projects and their delivery to ensure projects are completed as planned and exceed/meet
    defined expectations.
  • Ensure DevOps procedures are adhered to throughout the delivery and operations.

Operations

  • Lead data discussions and issues that are cross-departmental.
  • Work with various stakeholders within the organization to understand the impacts of their data
  • issues and recommend & coordinate remediation activities.
  • Support business stakeholders in ensuring data is managed throughout its lifecycle.
  • Manage data access requests, data disposal requests, etc. and provide guidance to the stakeholders to ensure necessary steps and taken.
  • Lead preparation of materials and chair Data Governance Working Group meetings.

Mandatories (must have to qualify)

  • 4 – 5 years previous management experience with data governance or data management.
  • • Bachelor’s degree or diploma required in Computer Science, Engineering, Management
    Information Systems or equivalent.
  • Licenses/Certificates include a certificate in Data Management or Data Governance is a definite asset.
  • Your competencies include:
