Position Description

Our client is seeking an intermediate Release Analyst for their Edmonton operations.  You will be required to implement software packages within the Release Management best practices. This role participates in Environment Management and Vendor relationships. This position will ensure that the implementation of deployment packages is accurate, and results are communicated on a timely basis. Responsibilities also include the participation in defect and patch management.

  • Understands and works within Release Management best practices.
  • Contributes ideas for improvement in process and best practice and processes.
  • The successful candidate is expected to understand policies and procedures and work within specific guidelines.
  • Tasks are guided by standard operating procedures, good practice, established precedents and the incumbent understands what results or standards are to be achieved.
  • This role will work independently with minimal supervision and within well established procedures and/or practices; however, some judgement is required to achieve the result. There is consultation with his/her manager on major issues.
  • The volume of work is generally large but can be controlled using time management and prioritization
  • This position has set deadlines and fluctuations of workload. Certain deadlines are to be met and occasionally there are large volumes of work to handle in limited time.

Mandatories (must have to qualify)

  • Adheres to structured Release Coordination processes and controls
  • Recognize priorities and possible resource/environment contentions
  • Works concurrently on releases for several environments and multiple projects
  • Recognizes competing priorities, resource contention and escalates as required
  • Assist in the tracking of release levels over several environments and projects
  • Contributes ideas to the Release Coordination documentation
  • Assists in the tracking of incident and problem resolution results
  • Work closely with Vendor and internal support/development teams
  • Receives, controls, and implements fixes and patches from software vendors
  • Work closely with operations team to investigate and resolve issues
  • Utilizes Microsoft Team Foundation Server (TFS) tool to track deployable files
  • Responsible for code configuration management along with developing and maintaining build and deployment processes
  • Determine the readiness of each release by ensuring that only correct, authorized, and tested versions are installed
  • May be required to work outside of regular business hours
