Position Description

Our Edmonton headquartered client is seeking a Senior Business Analyst (BA) for a 12 month contract and if you are interested there is opportunity for this to convert to perm, but it is not a requirement. You will report to the Senior Manager Business Analysis and Enterprise Content Management and are accountable to Product Owners, Business Owners, Project Managers, and/or Portfolio Owners within the context of each initiative. You will have proficient competency in all areas of business analysis techniques and disciplines which will enable the you to successfully manage the delivery of BA Services on large or increasingly complex projects which are mostly cross-functional in nature.  You will provide leadership to the Business Analysis Centre of Excellence by driving continuous improvement to standards, techniques and tools, mentoring the professional development of others, and fostering a culture of collaboration and commitment to maturing internal Business Analysis competencies


What You’ll Bring

  • Business Analysis Planning and Monitoring including planning the overall BA approach and governance, stakeholder engagement, information management, and identifying BA performance improvements.
  • Elicitation and Collaboration including elicitation preparation, execution, and results confirmation, working collaboratively with stakeholders throughout the process to ensure outcomes are met, communicating information in a clear and concise manner, and accepting changing priorities and inputs from multiple areas.
  • Requirements Life Cycle Management including analyzing and maintaining relationships between related requirements and designs, ensuring the integrity, priorities and impacts are addressed, assessing proposed changes to requirements and designing, and collaborating with stakeholders to gain consensus on proposed changes.
  • Strategy Analysis including collaborating with stakeholders to identify the business need of strategic or tactical importance, enabling the enterprise to address that need, and aligning the resulting strategy for the change to any higher or lower level strategies.
  • Requirements Analysis and Design Definition including covering the incremental and iterative activities from initial concept and exploration of the business need through to the transformation of those needs into a particular recommended solution such as structuring and organizing requirements during elicitation, specifying and modelling requirements and designs, identifying solution options and estimating potential option value.
  • Solution Evaluation including describing the tasks used during analysis to assess the performance of and value delivered by a solution in use by the enterprise, and recommending removal of barriers or constraints that prevent full realization of the value. Additionally Application of Solution Evaluation tasks including Prototypes/Proof of Concepts, Pilot of Beta Releases, and Operational Releases.

Mandatories (must have to qualify)

  • 10+ years’ experience in a Business Analyst role and/or IT work experience.
  •  Process modeling techniques and methodologies.
  • All aspects of Requirements Management, with proven ability to oversee this process.
  • Broad BA industry experience and ability to influence change and practices.
  • Exceptional facilitation and customer service attitude.
  • Results orientation with the ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines while delivering high quality outcomes, multitask and utilize creative resourcefulness.
  • Learn quickly and translate end user requirements into solution designs, while working
    collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Adapt to change in methodologies and practices.
  • Development and/or mentorship of other Business Analysts required.
  • Financial sector experience (preferably in banking) is considered an asset.
  • Education and Training includes:
    • Bachelor’s degree or diploma with Commerce, IT, Finance or Business Administration.
    • Business Analysis Certificate provided by International Institute of Business Analysts (IIBA) endorsed education provider.
    • Certified Competency in Business Analysis (CCBA) or Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP).
      designation is considered an asset but not required.
